Dear Hoover Elementary Staff and Parents,

Last Thursday, the interview panel that included teachers, parents, the school secretary, board members and district leaders met to interview final candidates for the principal position at Hoover Elementary School.  Members of the panel were pleased that Hoover attracted four highly qualified candidates with a genuine interest in serving the Hoover community.

After careful deliberation, the interview panel quickly arrived at a unanimous recommendation.  We are pleased to share that Mr. Mike Elliott was moved forward to the School Board in our process.

Mike will join us after serving 25 years with the West Bend School District.  Mike was a classroom teacher at Green Tree Elementary School and has taught most grade levels.  He also served as the school’s lead teacher (e.g., teacher in charge) when the principal was out of the building.  Most recently, Mike has been the school’s Title 1 Coordinator/Lead teacher.

What impressed the interview panel was Mike’s deep understanding of effective classroom instruction, his knowledge of strategies that engage students with diverse needs, and his passion for working with all children and their families.

On a personal note, Mike and his family live in West Allis.  His children attended Hoover Elementary School and he looks forward to being able to walk to work.  Mike continues to be a long-term volunteer with Recreation and Community Services Running Team.

Please join me in welcoming Mike Elliott to the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District and to the Hoover school community.

Sincerely,

Dr. Marty Lexmond
Superintendent
